Project Location: Kyiv, Ukraine
System Power: 500 kW
Energy Capacity: 1 MWh
Application: Off-Grid Resort Microgrid
System Configuration: Battery Energy Storage + Solar PV + Diesel Generators
Enerlution has delivered a 500 kW / 1 MWh containerized Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for a resort located near the Dnipro River in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The project integrates battery energy storage with 360 rooftop solar panels and two diesel generators, forming a fully off-grid microgrid designed to support the resort's electricity needs.
As an independent energy system without a connection to the public grid, the resort requires a reliable and flexible power supply to support its daily operations, including catering facilities, refrigeration, lighting and other electrical loads.
This project demonstrates Enerlution's practical experience in delivering integrated energy storage solutions for off-grid applications.
Before the energy storage system was introduced, the resort relied entirely on diesel generators for its electricity supply.
Its electricity demand varied throughout the day. During meal preparation periods, multiple high-power commercial induction cookers and other electrical equipment could operate simultaneously, resulting in significant peak power demand.
At night, electricity consumption decreased, but the diesel generators still needed to operate to supply the resort.
This createdThe project therefore required an integrated energy solution capable of coordinating solar generation, battery storage and diesel power generation to better match electricity supply with actual demand.
Enerlution provided a containerized battery energy storage system with a rated power of 500 kW and an energy capacity of 1 MWh.
The system works together with:
360 Rooftop Solar Panels: Generating renewable electricity to support daytime consumption.
500 kW / 1 MWh Battery Energy Storage System: Storing surplus solar energy and providing additional power during periods of high demandTogether, these components form an autonomous off-grid microgrid, coordinating multiple energy sources to support the resort's electricity requirements.
The microgrid combines three energy sources to support different operating conditions.
1. Solar Energy for Daytime Consumption
During daylight hours, solar power is prioritized to supply the resort's electricity demand. Surplus solar energy can be stored in the battery system for later use.
2. Battery Storage for Peak Power Support
When electricity demand increases, particularly during busy catering periods, the battery energy storage system can provide additional power to support peak loads3. Diesel Generation for Supplementary Power
The two diesel generators work alongside solar and battery storage, providing additional power when required.
This integrated configuration allows the energy sources to work together according to the resort's electricity demand and available solar generation.
Beyond equipment supply, Enerlution participated in the project's implementation process.
The project followed several key milestones:
July: Equipment shipment.
Late September: On-site installation commenced.
Late October: System commissioning and handover completed.
Enerlution's team participated in installation, system commissioning and project handover, providing technical support throughout the implementation process.
Local technical support is also an important part of Enerlution's project service approach, helping address on-site requirements and support project implementation.
This 500 kW / 1 MWh project demonstrates how battery energy storage can be integrated with solar PV and diesel generation to support an independent microgrid.
For off-grid commercial and industrial applications, an integrated energy system needs more than battery capacity alone. It requires appropriate system integration, coordination between different energy sources and practical project implementation experience.
Through this project in Kyiv, Enerlution continues to build practical experience in battery energy storage system integration and off-grid microgrid applications.
